Erm….FINALLY! It’s only taken her EIGHTEEN MONTHS to follow up her debut single ‘Not Ready To Say Goodbye’ (which according to Spotify, was our 7th most streamed song on their service last year), but now Swedish popstar Awa has finally returned with new one ‘Obvious’.
What’s it like? It’s SHIT HOT, that’s what it is. We can almost forgive the eighteen month delay given the quality of what she’s come back with. It’s a soul track which has been given an electronic makeover, and dressed up in 90s house music beats. And she delivers a punchy chorus over the top of it. One of the coolest songs to come out of Sweden in a while, but at the same time very poptastic.
Written by? Marlene – as in THE Marlene! She wrote it together with the Swedish trio Trinity (Sebastian Lundberg, Johan Gustafson and Fred Haeggstam). The song was produced by Norway’s Simen & Espen – who have previously done tracks for Donkeyboy, Kieaza, and the most recent Loreen single.
And errr….who is Awa, again? It HAS been a while, after all. She’s the first and last winner of Sweden’s X Factor. She won the sole series of the show back in 2012 – beating the likes of Oscar Zia, Sabina Ddumba, Kristin Amparo, JEM, Manda, and Isak Danielson.
