A pop ballad in the Swedish language – you don’t get as many of those as you would think. But today heralded the arrival of a rare one. ‘Faller’ by Swedish singer Mayleen.
Atmospheric until the end. And with minimal verses that serve to accentuate a chorus that clearly has designs on being somewhat epic. Dreamy backing vox further hammer home the point that yes – ‘Faller’ is in a right mood.
Mayleen apparently waited until right now to release it, because she felt that it’s a song that reflects the very end of summer and the beginning of a long dark winter. So yeah – as a warning to you before you start listening – this ain’t no joyful hands-in-the-air lark. But, it’s all the better for it. And it’s a song that’s going to be perfect winter soundtrack fodder as a result.
‘Faller’ was written by Mayleen herself, along with Benny Jansson, Jimmy Åkerfors and Matilda Bådagård.
