Gabriel Alares might just be releasing his debut single – ‘Dårarna’, out today folks – but he’s had a bit of a career and a half behind him already. He’s been in two rock bands, wrote the Russian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, ‘What If’ (and performed in the backing choir on stage), AND he competed in last year’s series of Swedish Idol, making the live shows and finishing in 7th place overall. NOW things start to get fucking real though – and the solo career of Gabriel Alares commences today with some gusto.
We say “some gusto” because ‘Dårarna’ is a pretty big and amazing debut. It’s a wonderfully catchy number, thanks not least to the “WHOAH OH OH-OH, OH-OH-OH-OH” mega chant that punctuates the song at various turns. The chorus is also particularly well produced – one of those great moments where rockpop is joined by massive synth, and the whole feels infectiously joyous.
Yeah we like this one a lot.
Oh, and we’d also like to say that we’re loving the growly voice thing he has going on.
We have been reliably informed that ‘Dårarna’ has been released worldwide, and so a Spotify embed should suffice. Here you go;
