Finland’s premier popstar Jenni Vartiainen has announced plans to release a special edition of her recent album ‘Terra’. And with it, comes a lead single. So today she put out brand new song ‘Eden’.
As is standard with Jen, she delivers a pop song that is spectacularly produced. As in – featuring a soundscape that you just don’t generally hear everywhere else. She always manages to find something special to present, and a song from her is normally a riveting listen from start to finish. ‘Eden’ in particular changes gears many times. All those sounds anchored by Jenni’s warm vocal.
Best bit is the section following the second chorus, where it goes a bit electro on us, and she starts chanting “OY-OY-OY, OY-OY-OY, OY-OY-OY”, or sounds to that effect (apologies to Finns if those are actual Finnish words, and not just “sounds” as we put it!). That bit is repeated at the end of the song too, so she obviously knew she was on to a winner there.
The special edition of ‘Terra’ won’t be released until October 3rd, but ‘Eden’ was released today. Listen;
