Linda Pritchard aka THAT VOICE made a return to pop last week. With brand new single ‘Drummer Boy’.
The song is a beat-driven spazz-out of drums and synths. A trifle WTF at first, but after a couple of listens a stellar pop song surfaces, one that is infectious via both its catchy tune and its upbeat tone. This one is very loveable.
We’ve actually lost track of the last time Linda Pritchard released new music. There was that cancelled single a while back. And then her clubtastic cover of ‘Wicked Game’, which also had a video made for it. Anyway, it seems like she’s been gone an absolute age. And that doesn’t make any sense, because as mentioned above – THAT VOICE. A third appearance at Melodifestivalen for Linda Pritchard next year would be welcome.
What would also be welcome is a new album. And perhaps a touch of identity to Linda Pritchard’s sound? Granted ‘You’re Making Me Hot Hot Hot’ was a means to an end, but all songs released since then have been so different to each other that it’s actually hard to tell just what kind of artist Linda Pritchard is, or what her ‘sound’ is. A new album (or more realistically, an EP) with some sonic identity would be nice. Preferably in line with this new single, ‘Drummer Boy’.
Here she is performing ‘Drummer Boy’ at Sommarkrysset on Saturday night. And below that you can listen to the studio version via Spotify.
