A Swedish dancer and choreographer has become a popstar and released his own debut single. We’ve all heard that one before, but we personally don’t ever tire of hearing it to be honest, so that’s fine. So long as the music continues to be this good. Which it is. Step forward Alex Jafarzadeh and ‘Fånga Mig’.
This might be the first time we’ve written about an Alex Jafarzadeh song, but it ain’t the first time the man himself has graced these very pages. And we doubt it’s the first time you’ve seen him either. From Melodifestivalen and Eurovision to Skansen and Liseberg, he’s danced behind everyone from Eric Saade, Danny Saucedo, Darin, Anton Ewald, Oscar Zia, Sean Banan and Elisa Lindström. From all of the pop performances we’ve watched over the last few years (and that’s QUITE a lot), we’d say he’s arguably the most prolific and frequently employed backing dancer in Sweden,
But enough of the dancing – what about the song! It’s a dancepop banger with an infectiously bouncy synth and hearty chorus that goes “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh” (always a winner). And a dubstep-esque breakdown for its middle eight. Standard fare really. But enjoyable dancepop fodder. We reckon he’s definitely got a good album in him, this chap – and we hope that we get to hear it at some point in the near future. Perhaps after Melodifestivalen 2015 or something along those lines….
‘Fånga Mig’ was written by Dimitrios Stassos, Fernando Fuentes (aka Nawuel Dash, whom you can listen to here), Simon Johansson (formerly of Youngblood, and whom we’re hoping releases his own single sharpish too), and Anton Ewald (of Anton Ewald fame and notoriety).
