Here’s a pleasant surprise!
Universal are obviously so pleased with the success of the recent Greatest Hits record from Aqua, that it’s getting a second new single released from it. Not only that, but they’ve spent about ten times as much money on the video for it as they did on the vid for the collection’s lead single ‘Back To The 80’s’.
‘My Mamma Said’ is a piano driven uptempo ballad – if that makes sense. It’s a ballad with a beat. Which we actually didn’t like at first, but it’s certainly a grower, as we like it a lot now. And we absolutely love the video – by far the darkest video that Aqua have ever made. It’s even dark by general music video standards, let alone Aqua’s usual bubblegum plastic vids! Our favourite part is the oh so subtle suggestion of an all too realistic heartache, or at least discomfort, within the band – as Lene glances at Soren twice whilst otherwise locked in a heated stare off with Rene.
