Remember Robin Bengtsson? Swedish Idol in 2008, last year’s ‘Cross The Universe‘, the 30th hottest guy in Scandinavian pop music in 2012. That Robin. Well now he’s this Robin. B Robin. He’s been revamped, reinvigorated, and relaunched. And today releases his debut single as B Robin. It’s called ‘I Don’t Like To Wait’, and it’s pretty damn amazing.
The song is a highly topical amalgamation of the current sounds of John Newman and Justin Timberlake. Although it doesn’t feel as cynical as those comparisons suggest – the resulting sound is fresh enough and unique enough to attribute it to Robin himself, rather than any bandwagon jumping being at play. ‘I Don’t Like To Wait’ is ridiculously catchy. Not even just in its melody. The whole tone of the song just captures your attention straight away, and listening to it the whole way through is an enjoyable ride – as listening to pop songs go. It’s one of those “oh yeah, this song could well be huge if it gets the right amount of exposure” kind of songs. Very special. And very RIGHT NOW too.
