Lisa Miskovsky releases a brand new single on Friday, the second to be taken from her forhtcoming album ‘Umeå’. It’s ‘Coming On Strong’, and you can listen to it already below.
Following on from ‘Wild Winds‘ earlier this summer, ‘Coming On Strong’ sees Lisa change direction ever so slightly by steering herself into exciting electropop territory. Well, we get excited whenever a traditionally organic pop artist ventures into that area anyway.
It’s a melodic, up-tempo pop track with a dark edge to it. An eerie “we all die young” middle eight manages to reinforce the no-regrets nature of the lyrics, and also serves to enhance the meaning of Lisa going all recklessly synthtastic on us. Or at least that’s what we picked up anyway.
‘Coming On Strong’ coupled with ‘Wild Winds’ have ramped up expectations for this ‘Umeå’ album. Two strong tracks in a row and we’re sold on the whole thing already. Regardless of whether you liked her before or not – give this one a go;
