Right then, who’s ready for the latest in a long line of Swedish pop boys. We say that like it’s an unwelcome thing. But as regular readers of the site will know by now, it’s really not unwelcome at all. Especially when the songs are this good.
Meet André Zuniga, and ‘One Shot Only’.
André first shot to fame in Sweden on the 2011 series of Idol, describing himself as a reggae singer, and turning in a memorable cover of Bob Marley’s ‘No Woman No Cry’. He’s only TODAY released his debut single though, and it’s this – ‘One Shot Only’.
No disrespect to the reggaeton genre, but he’s thankfully ditched it for the time being, and has instead gone all poptastic on us. Pop with a Scandinavian melody and sentiment, and with a delectable flavour of the Mediterranean, which is accentuated in the accompanying video which you can watch below. As a result of this seasoning, it’s the veritable sound of summer in itself. The song is sun drenched, and to listen to it is like basking in some super warm rays. Thus it’s pretty infectious too.
