A Christmas single from Sonja Aldén? Well this is jolly good news.
On November 28th, Sonja will release her very first solo foray into seasonal pop music (we all know and love Sanna, Shirley & Sonja, don’t we?), when she puts out her new ‘I Denna Stund’ (In This Moment) single.
It’s a ballad! Non shock o’clock. And since this is Sonja we’re dealing with here, we also know that it’s gonna be a top notch, beauty infused ballad of epic proportions. Sonja’s VOX on a piano and string laden sonnet is normally enough to give us chills anyway, but add a (admittedly vague) seasonal theme on top of that, and we’re dosed with warmth-seeking winter flushes.
It’s reminiscent of her Melodifestivalen hit from earlier this year, ‘I Din Himmel’, what with all of the ghostly and atmospheric sounds that play throughout alongside her big vocal. The lyrics might not scream Christmas, but the production has a distinctly seasonal flavour to it.
The middle eight in particular is to die for.
