Amanda Fondell, the triumphant winner of the most recent season of Swedish Idol has kept us waiting what’s seemed like an eternity for her first post-Idol single. And now we know why. It’s because it takes a great deal of time and concentration to sound this amazing.

Amanda releases brand new single ‘Bastard’ (amazing) in Sweden tomorrow, but today she gives Scandipop readers an exclusive and lengthy preview.

So yeah, it’s called ‘Bastard’. How has she managed to fit that into a pop song? Well, like this:  “everybody tells me you’re a bastard, your Mama even told me you’re a bastard“. Yes, those are the lyrics of the proper debut single from 18 year old Swedish Idol winner Amanda Fondell. Don’t you just LOVE Swedish pop?!

The song itself is a new take on the retro flavoured pop sound that seems to translate so well in Sweden. Amanda’s tuppence worth on the genre makes it sound funkier, which in turn makes the whole thing appear a lot fresher too. The verse has got a fantastic melody, the chorus is immensely catchy and clever (you’ll hear what we mean when you catch those altered backing vocals) and the music playing throughout is toe-tappingly upbeat. As debuts in Swedish pop music go in 2012, this is one of the very bestest. It’s all very wowsome. And we’ll stop making up words about this song now.

Amanda has given us a preview of the track, so behold – take a listen; (and try not to titter at the fact that it’s called “Bastard preview” )
