Time to get acquainted a with a new Scandinavian pop squire.
Meet 17 year old Kristoffer Rahbek, who has just released his debut single ‘Hate That I Love You’ in Denmark this week.
Yet despite the fact that he’s only just released his debut, he’s managed to amass over 18,000 fans on Facebook. That’s because he’s one of those YouTube stars – a chap who used to upload videos of himself singing other people’s songs on YouTube, until one of them went really massive and a record label decided to snap him up. In Kristoffer’s case, the famous cover turned out to be ‘Ai Se Eu Te Pego‘, and the record label, Universal Music.
His first single ‘Hate That I Love You’ is a catchy, beat driven, mid-tempo ballad with a slight “urban” flavour. Like, ridiculously catchy. One listen and you’re hooked, sort of thing. It’s a hugely strong debut that straight away puts him within the same league of his similar named Danish contemporary Christopher. And we reckon we’re gonna be hearing an awful lot from this chap over the next year or so. Which is a nice thought.
You can listen to ‘Hate That I Love You’ below. And new fans of Kristoffer will be pleased to discover that he’s released it outside of Denmark too.
