We’d never realised how incomplete this season feels without a Timoteij Christmas single. How has Christmas managed to survive for so long without one? Next week though, they release their first, ‘Jag Kommer Hem Till Jul’. And today they give Scandipop readers a lengthy preview.
Naturally, we’re hopelessly in love with it already.
We don’t know how they’ve managed this, but while sounding a damn sight different to anything else they’ve ever done, it still sounds VERY Timoteij . The dance beats and dubstep gloom wobbles of the second album are all absent, as are the big drums and whistles from the first record. But while we would normally pine after both, what we have in their place is another enormously endearing facet to Timoteij’s sound.
It’s a melodic, mid-tempo ballad with a light sprinkling of jingle bells and a heavy emphasis on the girls as talented musicians and angelic singers. It’s the melody that’s the big star here. It’s a stunner. Building up so that the verses, bridge, and chorus merge seamlessly. Like fairytale folk at its fairytale finest – the Christmas edition. And it’s as warming as a well made festive knit.
