Swedish girlband Love Generation are no more.
They’ve left both their label Universal Sweden and their songwriting team headed by RedOne. They wanted a fresh start. They wanted to commence writing their own material. And they wanted to relaunch as a new group. So from now on, the three girls – (left to right) Melanie, Cornelia, and Charly Q – will be known as Stockholm Syndrome.
The girls introduced their new name, their new image, and most importantly their new sound, at Thursday night’s Schlager & Pop concert at Stockholm Pride. It was a massive gig in front of 14,000 people, where they performed their two Melodifestivalen hits ‘Dance Alone’ and ‘Just A Little Bit’, as well as a brand new song.
Today though, they introduce themselves to everyone who wasn’t in attendance at the Stockholm Pride gig, as they give Scandipop readers a preview of new song ‘Pretty Girls’.

Stockholm Syndrome are describing their new sound as electronic-house-metal. And personally, we’re loving the change of style. ‘Pretty Girls’ plus the new song they performed on Thursday night ARE different – but really they do actually sound like a believable evolution of the old Love Generation that we knew and love. You know how an artist’s music progresses a bit from first album to second album? Well Stockholm Syndrome’s new music sounds like it’s skipped over four albums of artist progression. It’s the same three girls that are doing what they love, but they’ve literally put a block on the attempts of everyone around them to forge their sound, and they’ve gone and molded it themselves.
That’s mightily impressive, and we wish the girls the best of luck with all of it. We also hope that it’s not too long before we get to hear even more from them.
‘Pretty Girls’ seems like the sort of song that won’t alienate their existing fanbase, but will open them up to a whole new one anyway.
